Directory standards
How clinic listings are checked
Clear sources, visible check dates and a correction route keep the directory useful to patients and fair to clinics.
Where information comes from
Listings are assembled from official clinic websites, information supplied by authorised representatives and public regulatory records. Where Care Quality Commission data is used, the profile links to the CQC record and shows when the source was checked.
What is required before publication
A profile needs a verified name and location, a phone number or official website, a clear clinic category, at least three useful service tags, an original factual description, coordinates and dated source links. Submissions are never published automatically.
Website Essentials score
The score is a technical snapshot of ten equally weighted, publicly observable website signals:
- Website reachable
- HTTPS
- Page title
- Meta description
- Canonical URL
- Mobile viewport
- Main H1 heading
- Homepage indexability
- robots.txt
- XML sitemap
A failed or blocked scan is shown as unavailable rather than receiving a zero. Scores older than 90 days are hidden until refreshed.
What the score does not mean
Website Essentials does not assess clinical quality, practitioner competence, patient outcomes or safety. It is not a review, recommendation or endorsement, and it does not affect the order in which clinics appear in search results.
Corrections and removals
Clinic representatives can submit evidence-backed corrections or ask us to review a listing. Confirmed closures are removed from browse pages and search indexing.
